Wiggling Worms Experiment

The past two weeks we have been studying about earthworms.  Today we set up five different stations and the kiddos were able to observe by looking at their hairs and segments through a magnifying glass.  We had a worm derby race and they got to see how the worm wiggles.  Next we measured them to see how long they were and they were all 13 cm.  The next station was the wet/dry station.  They went to the wet paper towel.  The last station was where they labeled their worm.  We had a wonderful time and the kiddos learned so much about worms.

Marshmallows Place Value Lesson

We had a GREAT time learning place value with marshmallows and fruit loops!  My superstars had a wonderful time with this!  Their favorite part was getting to eat everything at the end.

First Day in Second Grade

Today was our first day of school and my first day of second grade!  I have to admit I was shocked as to how much more they can do at the beginning of the year than kindergartners.

We read one of my favorite books, First Day Jitters, and drank jitter juice to get rid of the jitters. We created our class rules together and we also took care of some procedures today!

I am so excited to have some of my former kindergarten students in our class this year!  It is wonderful to see how much they have grown!  I am extremely excited to have some new students to our school as well!  Our Southside students stepped right in and helped our new students with questions they had about our school!

I am ready for day two tomorrow!!!

Getting Ready for Open House!!!

My first two days back to school have been AWESOME!!! It has been great seeing my teacher peeps for and getting ready for open house on Thursday night!!!  I am so excited about my new teacher planner that I ordered from Erin Condren.  This is a wonderful organization tool for teachers who must be organized all year long!!

I can't wait to see my second graders at open house Thursday night!!!

My New Blog

I am SO excited that I have FINALLY gotten the time to post on my new blog!!!  This is my fifth year of teaching and I am going to try something new this year.  After teaching four years of kindergarten I am going to move up to second grade this year!  I am looking forward to having some of my former kiddos in my classroom.  Hollywood is almost ready for it's new superstars!!!  I will post some pictures of my new room very soon!
